Last Tuesday, the House Labor Committee held its public hearing on HB 1574, which would repeal the state law requiring employers to provide workers a lunch break after five hours of work.

"Quite frankly, considering this in 2012, and I'm talking about the repeal of the lunch hour, this is outrageous," AFL CIO President Mark MacKenzie told the Committee.

The law requiring lunch breaks has been on the books for 36 years -- but this Legislature is considering repealing it.

Who would have thought they would consider repealing lunch?

The Committee will hold a work session on the bill Thursday.
